Retail Team – Junior & Intermediate Technologists

Quadrangle is seeking junior and intermediate technologists to join our retail team. Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of building systems, materials and detailing, as well as the ability to communicate with the project team, work independently developing building details, coordinating contract documents and document checking. In addition, knowledge of the particular nature of retail work is preferred. Candidates should be experts in AutoCAD, as well as proficient in MS Office and other standard software programs. Working knowledge in Revit would be considered an asset.

Junior technologist candidates should have up to three years of experience, and have exceptional skills in the production and coordination of working drawings.

Intermediate technologist candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience, with exceptional skills in the production and coordination of retail, roll-out style working drawings. A minimum of three years on retail projects would be required.


Intermediate and Senior Architects – Design Leads

Quadrangle is seeking senior and intermediate architectural design leads. We are looking for people with strong conceptual design and design development abilities, which are demonstrated in a combination of graphic and verbal communication skills. Candidates should have the ability to work well with a diverse group of teams, mentor junior designers and deliver concepts quickly. The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience, most recently as a lead architect designer, and preferably with experience in private sector multi-unit/mixed use residential projects. Proficiency with Revit, with additional skills in 3D modeling and rendering will be an asset. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a point of client contact for design discussions while building trust at all levels;
  • Inspire and lead design thinking and discussion;
  • Maintain accountability and communicate to the team design integrity, economic feasibility and constructability of design ideas through all phases of project work;
  • Work with the Project Lead to understand the project deliverables, deadlines and time allocation and provide feedback;
  • Work with the Project Lead to ensure quality design output is realized by providing feedback on team talent and task distribution;
  • Create design solutions through appropriate precedent selection, sketches, diagramming, renderings, materials research, technical details and preparation of drawing packages;
  • Engage with the project Design Advisor on a regular basis to ensure an ongoing design feedback loop is created;
  • Ensure that all presentation packages meet Quadrangle design standards and receive proper quality control review by the Design Advisor in a timely manner, prior to presentation;
  • Demonstrate design initiative through outside interest in design, contributions to the Quadrangle design discussion and other initiatives.

The following skills and experience are required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related industry experience in a design role;
  • Experience with private sector multi-unit/mixed use residential projects;
  • Strong conceptual, graphic and design talent;
  • Ability to mentor junior architects;
  • Proficiency in Revit, with additional skills in 3D modeling and rendering;
  • Excellent design and visual communication skills;
  • Critical thinking, effective problem solving and decision-making skills;

Contract Administration Specialist

We are seeking a Contract Administration Specialist with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the preparation of contract documents, site review, review of shop drawings, preparation of supplemental instructions and all other standard contract administration functions. Experience in a range of building types, but particularly adaptive reuse and medium and large scale residential. Candidates should be proficient in Revit, MS Office and other standard software programs. Knowledge of Statslog is an asset.


Intermediate and Senior Architects

Quadrangle is seeking intermediate and senior architects. We are looking for people with a minimum of five years of experience in the design, production and coordination of complex projects. In addition to a high level of design expertise, candidates should possess a strong knowledge of building science.

 Junior Built Environment Accessibility Auditors

AccessAbility Advantage (A+) is a joint venture between the March of Dimes Canada and Quadrangle Architects Limited, based in Toronto, Ontario.  We are currently seeking junior Built Environment Accessibility Auditors to take part in accessibility compliance reviews of facilities and exterior spaces in the City of Toronto with the potential to expand to Southern Ontario.

Requirements for the role include:

  • An active interest in accessibility compliance requirements and accessibility advocacy;
  • Commitment to collecting and presenting information which is accurate, clear and useful to the team and to the client;
  • Interest in working with custom databases, spreadsheets, checklists and Excel;
  • Expertise with Excel;
  • Willingness to conduct on-site assessment, as well as provide accurate data entry, concise writing and meaningful recommendations for the report;
  • Familiarity with the tools of the job: tape measure, level, cameras etc.;
  • Weekday, daytime, some evenings and weekends availability during the course of contracts with some weeks requiring more time commitment than others;
  • Ability to commit to a schedule until 31 March 2017;
  • A professional demeanor and the ability to engage with clients on site;
  • Ability to work constructively within a team to meet time-sensitive milestones;
  • Interest in learning about the AODA, Ontario Building Code and other accessibility guidelines.

The role is very active and hands-on, requiring full days of walking, including stairs and exterior paths.  Auditors will work in teams and report to a Project Manager. Tools are provided.

This is an hourly contract position with options for extension. Work is assigned on a project-by-project basis.

IT Assistant

We are seeking an IT Assistant with 1-3+ years of experience with a degree/diploma in Information Technology and/or other appropriate academic major. The successful candidate will have experience configuring workstations according to best practices; providing network administration services, such as passwords, email accounts, security and troubleshooting; administrating an Avaya telephone system; providing day-to-day technical support to end users in a timely manner; making minor repairs to workstations; ensuring virus protection on desktops and servers is up to date; documenting resolutions for future reference; and assisting the IT team with projects.

To qualify for this role, the successful candidate will have strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills, a dedication to teamwork and leadership, advanced analytical, written and verbal communication skills, the ability to be flexible and adaptable, and strong desire to learn.
