60_80: Connected to Community

There is a distinctly human touch about 80 Atlantic in that it fosters places to gather and connect both for its tenants and the greater neighbourhood.

The property integrates with the surrounding urban fabric via the courtyard it shares with its sister building, places to sit or lock a bike, a pedestrian connection from Jefferson, and retail frontage set back with overhead protection. The public laneway was also enhanced with landscape pavers and lighting for community events, as well as a dedicated area for public art.

The shared sunken courtyard between 60 and 80 Atlantic will draw people inwards and serve as a social hub for both tenants and the community. Providing further connection between the interior and the public realm, the south façade will feature full glazing with a high performance solar glazing that will reveal the pure longitudinal section of 80 Atlantic. This will expose and showcase the wood structure, celebrating it as an innovative material, while the warmth of the wood itself, its beauty in spirit, brings human delight in its fond associations with the natural world. The main entrance and lobby face this dynamic privately-owned public space with internal connections to the retail/restaurant space on Atlantic and a bridge overlooking the hub of activity below, connecting the sister buildings.
