Our Community
For Quadrangle, contributing to the community where we work and live is a natural outgrowth of our professional practice and the values that define our firm. We lend our support to a wide range of causes, including architectural education, not-for-profit professional organizations and various socially conscious charities. In addition, our strong interest in sustainable design drives our support for several high-profile environmental initiatives. As a team, we have an instinctive concern for doing the right thing that we bring to every project – and outside of work, many of us carry on that spirit as active volunteers. We feel that this shared sense of commitment makes Quadrangle a better firm and, in a modest way, helps to make the world a better place.
Here are a few recent initiatives in which we have been pleased to play a part:
CANstruction
4 June 2013CANstruction is a national design and build competition that showcases the ingenuity of the local design community. Participating teams of architects, engineers and students are asked to create large structures made entirely of canned and packaged foods. At the end of each competition, all the food is donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto. For many years, Quadrangle has successfully enjoyed helping to stop hunger through the CANstruction competition. We have received nine awards to date, including several wins of the top prize, “Juror’s Favorite” and a prize for “Best Meal”.
Becel Ride For Heart
2 June 2013The Becel Ride for Heart, a fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Toronto, is Canada’s largest charitable cycling and in-line skating event. The event helps support vital research and programs helping to eliminate heart disease and stroke. 2013 was Quadrangle’s 14th consecutive year of participation. This year 14 people took part and fundraised for this important charity.

Participants delve deep into their imaginations, expressing their original ideas in rooms at the Gladstone. Designers, artists and attendees come together in dialogue, interpreting each immersive installation and experiencing visually stunning and inspiring spaces.
United Way
22 October 2012United Way is a Canada-wide charitable organization that helps less fortunate individuals and communities prosper through the support of programs and services that improve social conditions for Canadians. United Way has been a central part of Quadrangle’s community outreach for several years. Each year, we hold a week-long internal fundraising drive for this charity, encouraging all staff to participate. Throughout the week, friendly fundraising events are held throughout the office with the ultimate goal of raising a generous collective donation in support of this worthy cause.

26 January 2012Since 1998, The Interior Design Show (IDS) has been Canada’s annual design fair. It features three days of innovative exhibitions highlighting the newest trends in international interior design, architecture and industrial design trends. The most current and original products are also displayed by hundreds of exhibitors. Quadrangle’s 2012 installation “The Last Supper” looked at the deliciousness of design as a dichotomy of succulent design pieces and corpulent connotation.
